Embroidery for Every Occasion

Often there is a story behind a name and this is ours. 

After a long 12 hour day of driving our daughter to college, I needed a nap. My husband, then boyfriend, tapped me on the shoulder waking me to watch the sunset.  He said, and I quote, “and then the claws came out” and goes whoosh with his hand. Totally untrue- well almost. I did respond with a grumpy “Don’t you believe in letting people sleep?” He says I have the personality of a cat. I wake up, go sit somewhere, and continue to wake up. Those who own cats know this to be true. He, on the other hand, has the personality of a dog. He wakes up full of energy, happy, and in your face wanting to talk and do things.  I'm nicknamed "Cat" and he is "Dog".

We honeymooned in Germany. The language is beautiful. “Cat” is ‘katze’, I loved the way it is pronounce! But to be correct in German, it is ‘die katze’. Well, I can’t use ‘die’ because it would be read as ‘dead’.  So, I picked the Spanish word for ‘the’ which is ‘de’. 

A blend of the two worlds to create ‘de Katze’ as a business name.
